10 ways to entertain your guests

10 ways to entertain your guests

Need some inspiration for keeping your guests entertained on your big day? Here are ten of our favourite ideas to give them a day to remember.

1. Magician

Wow your guests by having a magician go from table to table performing his most impressive tricks.

2. Caricaturist

Give your guests a unique gift to take home with them by hiring a caricaturist to draw a quick sketch of each of them.

3. Light up the night

Bring your wedding to a dramatic finale with a spectacle that lights up the night sky, whether it’s fireworks or fire-eaters.

4. Live music

From elegant harpists to sophisticated string quartets, suave swing bands to head-banging rock bands, live music entertains in a way an iPod playlist never could.

5. Photo booth

Weddings are all about the memories, and a photo booth lets guests capture the fun to treasure forever. They’ll have even more laughs taking snaps with a selection of props.

6. Casino

Let guests indulge their inner James Bond by hiring a casino for the evening. Playing for pretend money, the stakes don’t have to be high to have fun.

7. A few extra treats

Your guests will be expecting a sit-down meal, so surprise by laying on some extra treats. An ice cream stall will go down a treat in the summer, while a Prosecco cart is sure to be a hit all year round. A candy cart where guests help themselves to their favourite sweets will be popular with all ages.

8. The fun of the funfair

For larger weddings, an old-fashioned carousel and other traditional fairground rides will set a nostalgic tone to delight your guests. If your budget won’t stretch that far, create a similar atmosphere with some simpler fairground games, such as a coconut shy.

9. Garden games

Perfect for summer weddings, garden games will keep guests entertained between ceremony and reception. Skittles or giant jenga are popular, or you could try something a bit different with a pinata or kite-flying.

10. Celebrity lookalikes

Guests will enjoy posing for selfies with celebrity impersonators. These are particularly suited to themed weddings, whether it’s Captain Jack Sparrow for Caribbean vibes or Elvis Presley for rock’n’roll.
