How to get married on a budget

How to get married on a budget

There’s no escaping the fact that getting married can be an expensive business. The good news, though, is that there’s plenty you can do to save money to make the wedding of your dreams more affordable. Here are some cost-saving tips for starters.

Get creative

There are lots of ways to save money on the cost of your wedding simply by getting creative, or roping in arty friends. For example, you can easily make your own invitations. You can create your own table plan using a multi-photo frame, interspersing guests’ names with photos of the two of you. If you’ve got a friend who’s a star baker, they might be willing to make your wedding cake for you if you don’t feel confident enough to make it yourself. Decorations for your venue and tables needn’t cost a fortune to be attractive, while there are plenty of beautiful wedding dresses from high street retailers such as Debenhams and John Lewis for a fraction of the cost of those you’d find in a designer boutique.

Limit your guest list

The more guests you invite, the more expensive your wedding will be, so if you’re tying the knot on a budget, it pays to be selective about who’s on your guest list. Guest lists can be difficult to mastermind at the best of times, but if you want to keep costs down without offending anyone, you can always invite your closest friends and family to the more expensive daytime celebrations and then ask your wider circle of friends to your evening reception.

Spread the cost

Finally, it isn’t always possible to find a large sum of money all in one go. That’s why wedding finance can be an invaluable way of affording your big day, breaking the cost down into smaller, more manageable instalments. At Southdowns Manor, we give you the option to spread the cost of your wedding over a period from 12 to 60 months, meaning you won’t have the stress of having to pay for your wedding in one lump sum.
