Alternative guestbook ideas

Filled with good wishes from your family and friends, a guestbook is a must-have for any wedding. If you’re trying to make your big day a little different, why not swap a traditional guestbook for one of these lovely ideas?

Polaroid guestbook

Everyone loves polaroid cameras, so why not use them to make your guestbook more fun? Set up a table with a polaroid camera and ask your guests to snap pictures of themselves. They write a message for you at the bottom of the photo, and then stick it in your scrapbook or peg it up like this.

Video guestbook

If you like the idea of having photos of your guests to accompany their messages for you, you could go a step further and encourage them to record a video message for you. Whether they share advice or crack a joke, it’s a great way to remember the merriment of your wedding day for years to come.

Message in a bottle

It’s always lovely to look back on your wedding day, and an increasingly popular idea is to ask your guests to write messages for you to open together on your first anniversary. A message in a bottle is a fun idea whether you’re going for a nautical theme or not. Provide your guests with small pieces of paper for them to write a message on, which they roll up like a scroll and put into a bottle ready for you to open a year from your big day.

A wishing tree

Doubling up as a beautiful decoration for your reception venue, a wishing tree is a wonderful way of collecting messages from your guests.  Guests write a message and hang it in the tree, whether that’s a wooden model like this or this, or a real tree like this one. From luggage tags to bird-shaped labels, you can personalise how the messages look so that they fit with your theme.
