DIY Wedding Bunting Ideas
We love the idea of making your own wedding bunting. It can really add to your wedding day theme and whether used inside or outside it creates that wonderful wow factor. It is a great DIY project to do at home, using up any old bits of fabric – you can transform anything from bedlinen, clothes or any off-cuts of natural fabric.
You will need:-
- Fabric
- 13mm-wide bias binding tape
- Pinking shears – or just scissors
- Pins
- Needle and thread
Step-by-step guide:
1. Draw a triangle on some cardboard and cut it out to use as a bunting template. You can choose any size, it really is up to you, depending on how big you would like them.
2. Pin the triangle template to your fabric and cut around it using pinking shears or scissors if you have pinking shears this will help to avoid fraying. Repeat until you have enough triangles for your desired bunting length.
3. Evenly space the triangles you have cut along the bias binding tape, folding the shortest edge over, and pin in place ready to sew.
4. Sew on the triangles with a straight stitch – or any stitch that you know! Leaving at least 40cm of tape free from each triangle to the next.
You should now how a beautiful piece of bunting, handmade and created by you. You could truly make this unique and write on them, put initials for your wedding day the possibilities are endless.
We would love to see any that you make…
