Inspiration for an autumn wedding
The crunch of leaves beneath your feet; the smell of woodsmoke in the air; the early morning mists and cosy evenings by the fire. It’s not hard to see why autumn is a favourite season for many people, and it’s also why it makes a great time of year to get married. If you’re thinking of planning your wedding for this enchanting time of year, here’s some more inspiration for you…
Outdoor wedding photos
The vibrant autumn colours on the trees make a magical backdrop, so even if it’s a bit chilly outside, it’s worth venturing out to get some photographs for a treasured reminder of your autumnal wedding day.
Autumnal decorations
Pumpkins aren’t just for Halloween carving; they’re a striking feature for an autumnal centrepiece. Try creating a display for the centre of each table (and perhaps also for the table where you sign the register during your ceremony) using pretty pumpkins and squashes in a range of sizes – tiny munchkin pumpkins alongside white pumpkins and larger ones, perhaps with some autumnal leaves and berries scattered around them. Match them with napkins, chair covers and flowers in rich oranges and browns to recreate the magical colours of this season indoors.
Seasonal fare
Autumn is the time for cider, and mulled cider makes a warming reception drink for an autumn wedding. For your wedding breakfast, think seasonal classics like bangers and mash with roasted vegetables, hearty stew, pumpkin pie and toffee apples.
Light up the night
The nights may be drawing in, but that doesn’t mean you can’t wrap up and enjoy being outdoors for a special treat. Autumn is the time of year for Bonfire Night, so entertaining your guests with a firework display is a great way of embracing the season. Indoors, fairy lights and open fires are a must; how about putting a bucket of marshmallows next to the fire for guests to toast?
