5 winter wedding fashion tips
The Great British weather is unpredictable at the best of times, but if you’re planning to tie the knot in a winter wedding, you’ll definitely be wanting to make sure you consider the probable weather when you’re planning your wedding attire. A winter wedding doesn’t mean you can’t still be fabulously fashionable, so let’s take a look at a few tips for what to wear if you’re getting married at this time of year…
1. Something for your shoulders
Keeping the cold at bay doesn’t have to mean wearing a practical jacket. There’s nothing more stylish than a faux-fur stole, wrap or cape to go around your shoulders for a winter wedding. A long, elegant white coat is another good option if you’re planning some outdoor photography in cold weather.
2. Long-sleeved wedding dress
Take inspiration from the Duchess of Cambridge and go for a long-sleeved wedding dress, which not only looks classic, but also provides you with a bit more warmth than the short-sleeved, strappy or sleeveless styles favoured for summer weddings.
3. Thicker stockings
Opt for a thicker pair of stockings to go under your dress to save your legs from those winter draughts.
4. Quirky footwear
If your wedding will involve being outdoors at all, a winter wedding is the perfect excuse to go for fun footwear. How about bridal wellies, boots or Converse, for example? You could always change into elegant heels once you’re settled into your reception venue for the evening.
5. Rich winter colour scheme
A winter wedding is a great opportunity to play around with a richer colour palette than the pastel colours you’ll often see at summer weddings. Darker tones such as deep burgundy work well, as do icy hues such as pale blue or silver. If you’re getting married near Christmas, you could also go for festive colour schemes such as red, green and gold.
