A Magician can hugely benefit your Big Day

A blog by Marcus Bailey, Magician

Close-up magic is an interactive magic performed for a few people, or even one person, at a time. It is done right in front of the spectator’s eyes, and is generally the most widely known type of Magic; using small objects like cards, coins, and nowadays even phones are being used.

I specialise in close up, however I have enough material for a mini stage show, and all this is geared towards performing at Weddings which is 80% of my work.

A Magician can hugely benefit Your Big Day. We are one of the rare entertainment services that get to talk, and actually interact with guests and the couples, this instantly makes a big impact and is much more memorable.

We have no space limitations, we can perform for 2 people or 200, we draw a crowd of strangers and allow them to be bought into an experience, allowing them to discuss it afterwards, breaking any uncomfortable shoe shuffling and eye wandering eye contact. A great way to break the ice and have people interact.

Everyone gets to witness magic right in front of them, which for many, is a new experience. This is something that will remain a constant memory and story to bring up whenever the wedding is mentioned.

One of the main reasons a Magician can help with are for filling in those lulls within the wedding running order, this normally can be during the drinks reception, when the photos are being taken, either before or after or part of the wedding breakfast, the room change over or in the evening when more guests are arriving.

We are also quick thinkers, meaning I can also step in for any delays. For example, I once extended my stay by an hour, after an elderly relative fainted in the heat. Ultimately, I’m supplying a personal, memorable, fun experience for all attendees at the wedding making sure it is an inclusive performance for all attending regardless of age. Plus your photographer can get some great photos of your guests reactions from the awesome magic.

”I can cater for variable amounts of people, however to give a guideline, the average number of people at a wedding is around 80. For that amount of people, I would need around 2 hours to ensure I’ve performed to everyone. A higher number of guests would either mean more time for me, or a second Magician. That’s just close up. I have been asked to do a mini stage show for everyone to be involved in.

My magic is loved by adults and children alike! I have also found a great niche now, which has worked with great success. I now offer magic workshops for children at weddings, and these have proven popular – especially during the speeches. Plus the children get to learn a new skill, have fun, keep some props, and perform some magic!”

My job is to create a high atmosphere of fun, which is personal, memorable and a great experience for all.
