James & Lydia’s Intimate April Wedding

Spring at Southdowns Manor is a truly enchanting time to exchange vows. As our gardens and the surrounding countryside awaken in vibrant greens, our secluded location transforms into a breathtaking, fairytale-like backdrop for your special day.

We were thrilled to host James and Lydia’s wonderfully romantic and intimate wedding. Their vision for a luxurious yet small-scale celebration of love was perfectly matched with the exclusivity of Southdowns Manor.

Situated far enough from their local area, our venue provided a private, magical escape where they would fully immerse themselves in their own bubble of love. Their elegant styling, personal touches, and captivating sparkler photo shoot made their wedding day uniquely memorable and timeless, capturing the essence of their love story.

Bringing Your Vision to Life at Southdowns Manor

At Southdowns Manor, we take pride in going above and beyond to create unforgettable experiences for our couples. James and Lydia appreciated our dedication and care to helping them plan their perfect day: “We loved that we were able to come to the venue on the multiple open days as well as having our own appointments. This helped us create our vision for what we wanted on the big day.”

They added, “We were keen on making sure all the very small details were perfect for our big day, and were happy that most of these were noted down and our day went SO smoothly.” With our expert team by their side, every aspect of the wedding planning and execution was seamless, allowing the couple to relax and fully enjoy every moment of their special day.

Southdowns Manor Ticks All the Boxes

Every couple has their own criteria when it comes to choosing a wedding venue, and for James and Lydia, Southdowns Manor stood out for several reasons.

“We loved the venue because it was local to where we lived, but still felt very picturesque in the countryside. We really wanted a venue with a small amount of rooms, so that we could enjoy the night and the next morning with our closest friends and family.”

They also highlighted the exclusivity of the venue: “The other thing that was really important for us was that it was an exclusive venue for just us, no public or random people using the venue whilst we had our special day. The price was also a key factor in that it was extremely reasonable, whilst still ticking lots of our boxes!”

Wedding Theme & Styling

James and Lydia opted for an intimate celebration, cherishing quality time with their nearest and dearest. Their rustic yet romantic theme featured delicate pastel pinks, elegant floral touches, and a stunning three-tiered semi-naked cake in their favourite flavours.

Bouquets and buttonholes reflected a harmonious palette of blush pinks, whites, and sage greens, with fragrant eucalyptus and roses adding timeless charm.

Lydia was breathtaking in a strapless fishtail gown embellished with sparkling details that shimmered beautifully in the light, and came complete with voluminous ruffles at the hem. James looked dashing in a dark blue three-piece checked suit, paired with a dusky pink tie and polished brown shoes.

Photography and Videography

The talented Kerry Potter Photography expertly captured the beauty of James and Lydia’s day. Lydia shared: “She was amazing! We wanted some key photos with our family and friends as well as some lovely keep-sake wedding-style photos. But also something that was casual and captured the entirety of our day.”

For videography, the couple chose Russell from Bride & Zoom: “We just wanted Russell to capture the atmosphere and ‘vibe’ of the day that we tried to think about so hard to ensure we had the best day!”

Having both still and moving images to reflect back ensures the magic of their wedding will be cherished for years to come.

A Sparkling Stand-Out Moment

When asked to highlight a single standout moment from their wedding, James and Lydia didn’t hesitate: “We had a sparkler photo opportunity in the evening which went amazingly well! The pictures and video look amazing, and our guests loved it too! It provided the perfect ‘break’ for our band, and also ensured that the rest of the evening was amazing on the dance floor with our friends and family.”

Your Wedding, Your Way at Southdowns Manor

For other couples considering Southdowns Manor, James and Lydia offered this advice: “We would recommend to really think about the details of what you want, to make your wedding feel like YOUR wedding. The venue is amazing and very well-versed at hosting weddings, so it’s the details that you insist on that will make the day feel like your very own!”

Finally, our newlyweds shared, “Our guests loved the food, the atmosphere, and the convenient rooms too! Thank you for making our day perfect!”

Our love and best wishes for your happily ever after…
