Planning your autumn wedding
With the leaves turning brown and the nights drawing in, autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons – and that makes it a great time of year to get married. It’s outside the peak summer wedding season, making it a cheaper time to tie the knot, and there’s so much about this delightful season to inspire your big day. But what should you think about if you’re planning to get married in autumn? Let’s take a look at some of the top considerations.
Weather
The good old British weather is unreliable at the best of times, but as we go into the autumn months there can still be some warm, sunny days. If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony or reception in the early autumn, you’re definitely going to want a Plan B in case of poor weather. That includes a back-up indoor ceremony room and alternative indoor entertainment if you’re planning any aspect of your wedding being held outdoors. You might also want to think about some indoor locations for your wedding photos in case it’s not possible to take them in the grounds of your venue, and it’s also a good idea to invest in something to go over your shoulders to keep you warm.
Venue
You’ll want to take advantage of good weather if you’re lucky enough to get it, so choose a venue that has plenty of gorgeous outdoor space, like we have here at Southdowns Manor. The more trees, the better, as they’ll make a stunning backdrop to your photos in their autumn colours.
Colour scheme
Autumn is the season of gorgeous reds, oranges and browns, so why not work that into your colour scheme? Pumpkins and gourds make inexpensive table decorations to fit this theme, while your bouquet and other floral arrangements could make use of seasonal foliage as well as flowers in russet hues.
Food
As the nights get longer and the weather colder, why not treat your guests to some warming comfort food? British classics such as pies or bangers and mash are simple yet delicious and are sure to go down well with guests young and old alike.
