Wedding Favours

What are Wedding Favours?

Wedding Favours are small gifts given by the couple to their guests as a token of gratitude for attending. For centuries sugared almonds were given as a thank you, but now people like to give something more personal to themselves. Traditionally, you’ll leave your little gift on the place setting for each person at their table.

We think making your own Wedding Favours and creating something that really shows your personalities is a great idea. So we have created this wedding blog to help with some unique and imaginative ideas to make your wedding day truly stand out. Creating your own Wedding Favours can really help to save some money as well, so here are some ideas that will work perfectly at Southdowns Manor, it is time to great creative!

We love how these Wedding Favours can make your guests really feel part of your wedding day.

Make your own Tea Lights

Making your own wedding tea lights is so simple but effective. Use some decorative masking tape, simply wrap the tea light in the patterned masking tape of your choice and give each guest 2-3 candles in cellophane and tie with a bow – so easy!

Seed Packets

We love the idea of giving these to guests, whether they are flower seeds or vegetable seeds it is a perfect reminder of your wedding day to your guests when they see them growing. You can pop the seed packets into brown envelopes and decorate and personalise the envelopes to make them bespoke.

Glow Sticks

Let love glow… how about glow sticks as wedding favours, so when the dancing commences the floor is alight with colour and fun? So simple yet so effective – your guests will love them and they will make a great photo opportunity!

Bookmarks

Why not make bespoke bookmarks for your guests to treasure and keep as a wonderful keepsake? You can print these on thick card from your home printer, cut them to size and then hole punch the top and pop some ribbon on. You can fully customise these to your colour scheme and embellish as much as you would like.

Fortune Cookies

These wedding favours are super cheap and are a really great way to engage with your guests. Don’t worry if you are not a great home baker, the easiest way is to buy a large batch of pre-prepared fortune cookies. You can then use tweezers to remove the original message and replace them with your own personalised message. We are sure your guests will love and talk about these imaginative favours for years to come.

Scratch Cards

How about the idea of possibly making one of your guests rich! Purchase all your guests £1 scratch cards and pop them into your own bespoke envelopes with a heartfelt message on and include a penny for them to be able to scratch the cards. We are sure this will be a talking point on your wedding day.

Mini Pot Plants

Head to your local garden centre to source affordable mini plants and give your guests a little piece of nature. You can pop these in little pots that you can source within your budget – or you can be more creative and pop these in tea cups, jam jars, used tin cans – the list is endless, just use your imagination.

Homemade Jam

What a lovely way to be super creative and have something that is truly yummy! This is a great favour that your guests will use. There are plenty of online recipes for tasty jams and they are very simple to follow. We would recommend to purchase some jars online or from your local homeware shop. A great way to personalise these favours is to add some ribbon in your colour scheme and attach a label to your jars to make them bespoke.

Cookies

These are an affordable and tasty idea as a DIY wedding favour. There are so many options when it comes to colours, shapes and even the type of flour to use. Cookies can be personalised in whatever way you would like, we love the idea of using stamps and edible decals to decorate with. Pop these into clear cellophane and tie with your co-ordinating ribbon to make a real ‘wow’ favour!

Knitted Hearts

If you are crafty and can knit, why not make your own knitted hearts? These are a lovely keepsake for your guests to keep and treasure. It does not just have to be limited to hearts, it could be anything that you are creative at making.

We hope the above options have helped your imagination in giving wedding favours that really mean something to you. Our team at Southdowns Manor will always be happy to help with these smaller details.
