Amy & Ollie’s Magical March Wedding Day

At Southdowns Manor, we believe that it’s our attention to detail that sets us apart from other wedding venues. Our dedicated team always strives to streamline the wedding planning process and work with you to plan your wedding to perfection.

When it came to bringing Amy and Ollie’s dream wedding to life, everything seemed to fall into place effortlessly. This lovely couple tied the knot with us in early spring, a season symbolic of new beginnings, rebirth, and brighter days.

Why Southdowns Manor?

Ollie and Amy explained that there were several factors that made them fall in love with our venue.

Firstly, the fact that Southdowns Manor offers exclusive use was a big selling point. Amy and Ollie knew that, unlike a hotel, perhaps, their celebrations would not be interrupted by any other guests or visitors. Our venue offering exclusive use means that it would be entirely theirs to use and enjoy as they please for the duration of their stay.

They also shared that our stunning grounds were part of the reason they chose to book with us – endless beautiful photo opportunities!

And, finally, it was important to our couple that there was enough accommodation for their families to stay overnight. Weddings can be hectic, so knowing that your venue has enough space to allow your guests to relax and have a comfortable place to stay on-site is always an added bonus!

The Theme

Ollie and Amy described their wedding theme as ‘simple’ and ‘classy’. This aesthetic choice ensured that their wedding day details remained timeless and would never go out of style, prioritising traditional colours and silhouettes over current trends.

Amy explained that they went for all white flowers, from the table centrepieces and the bridal bouquet to the buttonholes. All florals were also displayed in pretty bud vases, and the centrepieces were mirrored and scattered with tea lights, in keeping with their minimalist approach to styling.

The Outfits

Our bride wore an elegant ivory backless A-line dress, a long veil with pearl details, and carried a white bouquet.

The groom wore a slick navy tail suit and brown shoes, which was echoed by the fathers of the bride and groom, who wore similar attire.

The mothers of our newlyweds wore blue dresses to match the bridesmaids, who wore navy chiffon floor-length dresses and carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet.

The Cake

Ollie and Amy had an elegant 3-tier wedding cake made for their nuptials. The top and bottom tiers were white and made of cake, while the middle tier was clear acrylic – so chic! The decorative pearl detailing and matching pearl cake topper finished off their show-stopping cake perfectly.

The Photography

To take the pressure off having to find all the suppliers you might need for your special day alone, our team has hand-picked a list of some of the very best in the wedding industry available at your disposal.

Amy and Ollie opted to work with a photographer from our recommended suppliers list – the wonderful Joanna Cleeve – to photograph their wedding. Joanna is no stranger to working at our venue and knows all the best spots to capture the perfect wedding day snapshots.

Most Memorable Moment

“I loved the confetti walk before going through to the wedding breakfast,” beamed Amy. “We had a mixture of blue paper confetti for all our guests, and we have the best video of it!”

Everything We Had Ever Dreamed Of

“We had the most magical day ever; it was everything we had ever dreamed of and more,” said Amy. “All of our guests said that they had the most amazing time, that they enjoyed the food and drinks, and spoke so highly of the beautiful venue, grounds, and staff.”

Special Thanks

“All the staff from Southdowns Manor are a credit to the venue; it wouldn’t have been the same without them. They all work so hard to make your day so special,” shared Amy and Ollie.

“Special thanks to Becky, who was our coordinator; she helped us with all the planning (which I am grateful for) and was on hand on the day of the wedding.”

A Dream Come True

“Everything ran so seamlessly. It was a dream come true,” our newlyweds explained. “We have so many lovely memories of our wedding day, and we would highly recommend Southdowns Manor to any of our friends and family planning their big day!”

Advice To Other Couples

When it came to offering some parting words for other couples looking to tie the knot at Southdowns Manor, the pair had this to say: “Enjoy every moment, take lots of pictures and videos, and take a moment to stand with your new husband or wife and just look at the room and what you’ve planned and look at all your guests having a wonderful time. It’s so special because it’s true what they say; the day goes so fast!”

Congratulations to the newlyweds!
